"Even after the increased risks of Celebrex, Vioxx and Bextra became common knowledge, Pfizer kept Celebrex on the market, and even resumed TV ads for it, running an unusually long ad which extensively described the drug’s risks, but sought to downplay the risks by claiming that all NSAIDS (the class of drugs Celebrex is in) carry the same risks." - says Prescription Access Litigation, a consumer advocacy blog.
Celebrex is a Cox-2 selective inhibitor, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs) drug that has been more and more often prescribed to migraine patients lately. Celebrex is the only Cox-2 inhibitor that the Food and Drug Administration has allowed to remain on the U.S. market.
Compared to more traditional NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen, Celebrex seems to work better for needs of migraine population. However, using it does expose the patients to interestingly dangerous adverse effects. Namely - heart attack, thrombosis and stroke.
Since Pfizer forgot to mention those side effects on the label, they have to dish out $894 million to settle a whole lot of lawsuits. This amount should cover up to 92 percent of plaintiffs by the end of 2008.
In the related news, AP reports that "Merck, based in Whitehouse Station, N.J., has begun paying a $4.85 billion settlement to end about 50,000 lawsuits brought by people claiming Vioxx cause heart attacks, ischemic strokes or death. It still faces other litigation over the former blockbuster arthritis treatment."

That is why when they knew who I was (LEAD PLAINTIFF) during the first 2 times the test was done they created allot of confusion and even tried to lie about doing it the first time. It is why when I went to the Washington state Hospital and they had no Idea of my involvement with the lawsuit they report on the condition correctly.
