There has been a flurry of articles relating migraines and sex lives in the last 3-4 years. Here, Google it for yourself. Some of the articles are contradictory, some pointless. One commonality they all share is that most are based on anecdotal evidence at best.
There was, however, a study done over a period of 5 years "to analyse the perceptions of importance of and satisfaction with sex life as well as the expression of interest in sex among people having migraines in a prospective follow-up mail survey in 1998 and 2003."
Here's the condensed results:
- Sex drive tends to decline among both men and women as they get older, independently of whether they have migraines or not (Ed. note: duh)
- Importance of sex life was higher among men with migraine than among men without migraines
- In women migraine lessened interest in sex life over time
Please note that this was a statistics-based research. As such, it identifies trends and probabilities only so don't start applying the results to yourself without thinking. Remember, my gentle readers, there are lies, damned lies, and statistics.
