Flicker-free light bulbs still cause migraines

Compact fluorescent light bulbs will be a mandatory replacement for incandescent bulbs in the very near future. Migraine sufferers all over the world silently object but are apparently too timid to speak up.

There are a couple of people who are more vocal. Terri Miller Burchfield of migraineblog.com gives an interview to ABC News on the subject of migraines caused by CFL.

After that, read the open letter by "themigrainegirl" of the migrainegirl.com as a follow-up to the interview.

Keep in mind, if we don't voice our opinions, we won't be heard. Speak up, y'all.

In our recent article Green Crowd - we'll flash some light in your eyes; it's OK, it has energy saving bulbs we've talked in some detail on how CFL can trigger migraines and what "Green" movement thinks about it.

Ms. Terri Miller Burchfield is not only one of the writers and reporters at MigraineBlog.com but your readers should know MigraineBlog.com is the online publication for the 16 year old NGO known as MAGNUM, The National Migraine Association, but most Migraineurs or headache suffers know it as migraines.org. Ms. Burchfield is the co-found of that Migraine disease public health non-profit, and is also their Legislative Director & Executive VP.

In regards to the Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFL) & triggering Migraines, yes the ABC Television interview is an excellent broadcast about this important subject to Migraineurs. MAGNUM followed up with other media interviews on this CFL/Migraine problem. In addition Executive Director Michael John Coleman met with U.S. Congressman and Congresswoman on Capitol Hill to educate them that this is a real problem which concerns many of the 36 million American Migraineurs.

One more thing--Sylvania and others in the industry may say that these new Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs are so-called "flicker free" which they are NOT. They "appear" to be "flicker free" to the ‘normal’ human brain. Having said that, we now know the Migraineur brain is bigger, having a much thicker cortex (SSC) area of the brain. So it is silly to say that these new "flicker free" CFL solved the public health problem when they have not taken into account the fact that a disease may change this due to the sensory sensitivity of a disease demographic. Our disease demographic in this case.

Thank you for reporting Terri's ABC interview on CFL & MAGNUM's MigraineBlog.com. You have a outstanding health blog going on here, keep it up!
